Description:
Manuka honey is one of the finest and most expensive types of honey, produced by bees from the nectar of the wild Manuka tree, abundant in New Zealand and parts of Australia. This honey is known for its thick, creamy texture, dark or light brown colour, and strong flavour.
The FDA has approved Manuka honey as the first medicinal honey that can be used to treat wounds, burns, ulcers, and external infections. It later became popular for treating acne, eczema, and mouth, gum, and throat inflammations.
UMF grades indicate the honey's antibacterial strength and are based on the concentration of the natural disinfectant compound methylglyoxal (MGO).
